Congratulations to Dharanidaran Jayachandran (DJ) on successfully defending his PhD dissertation in Fall 2023. DJ’s PhD was focussed on developing novel imaging protein probes and glycosyl transferases engineering toolkit to image live cells and characterize enzymes synthesizing critical polysaccharides embedded in cell walls and extracellular matrices (e.g., cellulose and hyaluronan), respectively. Of particular note, part of his PhD work received recognition as ‘Outstanding Poster Award’ at the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on ‘Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes for Glycan Conversions’ held at Andover (New Hampshire) in summer 2023.
