Chundawat Receives Award for Studying Glycosynthase Enzymes

Dr. Chundawat has received a sub-award from the University of Michigan (sponsored by the National Science Foundation) to engineer and characterize novel glycosynthase enzymes involved in synthesis of prebiotic human milk oligosaccharides (HMO). As part of this ongoing NSF sponsored project, Rutgers researchers have received $182,414 in additional funds to support experimental characterization and application of advanced machine-learning models to unravel the rules of glycosynthase enzyme design for bespoke HMOs synthesis. Details about the original NSF sponsored project are available online: https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1904890.
